Having a sense of belonging is difficult for LGBTQ+ people of faith and their loved ones. As a Catholic DADvocate with 3 LGBTQ+ children, I started a ministry in Nashville, TN called "Always God's Children," through consultation with LGBTQ+ Catholics and their families in the Nashville community, feedback from LGBTQ+ ministry leaders and editing by my wife, Mary. It is our way of establishing an emotionally safe space for LGBTQ+ and those that love them: to pray, be authentic share experiences, and find kinship. The name, "Always God's Children," is derived from the USCCB Statement "Always Our Children,” considered one of the more compassionate statements from the Catholic Church with regard to LGBTQ+ people and their families.
